Like, like we talking, listen, I'm a Dennis Rodman fan. But as a fan, I understand Dennis Rodman. I watched his whole career. We all watched his career on and off the court. Yes, he's the one who put the he put the wedding dress on. He put the wedding dress on to sell the books. This is the same person who's gonna throw the earrings on his dye in his hair every game. Nah, because he's trying to be low-key. Nah, he needs attention. He wants attention. We talk about off-the-court antics and on-the-court antics. This is the same person who just laid on the baseline for a Dallas Mavericks team, just took his shoes off. We talk about the same person who uh I believe is it Mike Wilburne?

Mike Wilbur reported that Dennis Rodman was on the bench, took his shoes off, and started reading the magazine during the game. His pre-game routine was when the video when they start doing film, he leaves the room to go take a shower. As they doing film. This is the same Dennis Robin, who in the middle of a playoff, he goes to Vegas. This is the same guy. So, like I said, big fan of Dennis Robin. When he was with the NWO, I was with the NWO. But I also understand when men need attention. And him saying that is just him getting attention. LeBron is hot. Oh, yeah, yeah, I can guard LeBron. Oh, yeah, I guard him any day of the week. Sure you could. You mean foul. Hacking is not guarding. Hacking is not guarding. But I think it'll be a good matchup. I would like to see it. Dennis Robin is the premier defender. That's what's his job. You talk about a guy who made millions of dollars to grab rebounds. If we had to make a rebound mixtape, Dennis Robin would have the best one. So I like, I like the I like the confidence. I like the confidence. But I know I can recognize a five from a two, if you know what I mean. Another thing that's being said, or something crazy that's has been said, is in the WNBA. Yeah, it's getting crazy in the WNBA. But I'm not as sensitive as everyone else. I'll try to understand everyone. But yes, I believe the coach over there, she was wrong. She was definitely wrong. What was her name? Sandy Brondello. Sandy Brondello, she referred to Atlanta Dream Star Angel Reese as a protected species. Can we pull that clip up of Miss Sandy and her words, please?

Now, as you can see, uh under the uh, well, if you can't see, if you got some of you guys that listen to audio, Andrew Reese tweeted, are we really surprised? Are we surprised? So here's my thing. I think Andrew Reese has every right to be offended. I believe Sandy should have apologized, and since then she has, and Andrew Reese has accepted her apology. The WNBA took action by suspending Sandy, uh Coach Sandy, for one game. I think that was necessary. And then Andrew Reese also showed her appreciation to the WNBA for taking action. So great uh great way to handle this on both parties. Now, do I think uh Sandy meant it in that way? I don't know. I don't know her personally, I but I do understand when you're in the heat of the game, you do say things you probably don't mean. I know I've done it as a coach, maybe not to the extent of Sandy. Don't give me, don't get carried away now. But I have said things that's in the heat of the moment that I thought about driving home, thinking to myself, ugh, I didn't have to say that. But on another note, when it comes to the WNBA, I was thinking to myself, E. I was thinking to myself, the WNBA is extremely talented, and I think it's talent that people should actually look for. But there are elements of entertainment that you need for people to actually look for, right? So, for instance, you need stories. You need stories. To me, when I talk to WNBA players, it's it comes off as our talent is enough. We're just as talented as the guys. But here's the thing: the guys had to have stories too. Magic Johnson was a great player, Larry Berg was a great player. These guys were great players, but they still have a they still needed a rivalry, they still needed a little race war in there. Then you go to the 90s, Michael Jordan was a superhuman. You need a girl who's a superhuman in there. Who's your superhuman in there? They they pushing Kaylin Clark. I like it. Uh, we were just talking about a couple other girls who who was we talking about, um, Olivia, what was her name?

Olivia Miles. Like her game, like her style. I I like the way the WNBA plays. Some of the teams are a little old school. I was watching, I mean, these are the bottom, the bottom of the standards group uh teams. I was watching Connecticut and Phoenix play, and you know, they're kind of old school. They're kind of old school. It looked like a college team on steroids. Like everything needs to go down low first, then we kick it out. Um, but I can understand basketball, so it's easy for me to follow. But for for but what I see out of the WNBA is they want to depend on all skills, and that's just not how entertainment works. Because when you look at the NBA, most of the fans are casuals. And that's okay. Everyone has jobs, families. Nobody got time to keep track of all these basketball players. But people catch on to some of the stories. They catch on to some of the stories. So you need some casuals in the stands where people catch on to the stories. And another thing you need to do, you need to get some girls to come straight out of high school. Get some girls to come straight out of high school. I want to see that. Who this girl come straight out of high school? You gotta shake it up a little bit. You gotta get people in treat. You gotta get people locked in with you. But I like the WM NBA man. I like some of the performance. Uh, they call it Paige Buckets. I like her. I like her game. And growing up, you know, some of my standouts growing up was girl, girls, women, excuse me, women like Maya Moore, uh, Augustus Simone, Diana Tarasi, um, Ivory Ladder, these women were great ballers. These great, these women were um inspirations to me. I like the way they ball. I was trying, I was practicing some of their moves, bro. You know what I'm saying? No, listen, bro. I I'm a type of person, I steal some moves. I don't care if it's a girl, it can be a 10-year-old kid. I don't care. I'm stealing some moves, bro.

I'm stealing some moves. Now, going to the NBA. You know, I had this conversation, right? You know the difference between NBA legends versus the current NBA legends. They knew when to get out. I'm not sitting here saying the current NBA legends should get out, but what I'm telling you is that because they left almost immediately after they won a championship, they left a good taste in everyone's mouth. Pause. Yeah, that's pause. That's why. Now, I'm thinking of guys like Isaiah Thomas, right? Isaiah Thomas, he won his last championship 89-90 season. He was retired by 1994. You didn't have a chance to see him go through different teams, go through multiple injuries. He was done. All right, I did my thing. I did what I needed to do. I'm gone. Same thing almost with Magic Johnson. Magic Johnson went to the uh won a championship in 1988, was in the finals in 1991. Obviously, he had his big announcement and then retired. Came back in 96, but played only 32 games. But we don't count that as his retirement. We always look at it as 1991. So three years removed from his championship, I'm gone. Same thing with Jordan. Jordan retired after every time he won a championship.

He was in the finals in '87, retired by '92. You didn't get a chance to see him in any other jerseys, you didn't get a chance to see him holding on to anything. And then any any player who was out of their prime because of injuries, such as like a Patrick Ewan, who's playing for the Orlando Magic. Sean Kent played for the Orlando Magics, Hakeem Elijawan played for the Raptors. We wasn't expecting nothing. We wasn't. We knew they was out of their prime. We knew they were good. But then you got guys like KD. KD is still in his prime year 18, averaging 26 points a game. So we still expect them to win championships, even though they're not in their prom right now. Same thing with a James Harden averaging 24 points. Same thing with LeBron. We still expecting them to win. So all the years of them not winning, we're holding it against the resume. And I don't think that's fair. In fact, I actually think they are more legendary than the legends before them. Why? Because they are fighting father time. And a lot of these guys couldn't be father time, and these guys are doing it. You feel me? And I hear you, bro. You feel me, man? You gotta show some love. And I and this the thing that stood out about this for me was I think we believe we take these guys for granted. We take guys like KD, we take guys like LeBron, Steph, we take these guys for granted, right? Do we got that clip where he's talking about that? Yeah, yeah, I got it. Pull that up. Okay. Every NBA player who's ever played any NBA NBA, and right now there's 450 of them, right? Those guys to get to the NBA. You can't get to the NBA if you ain't a straight up killer. You don't make it. This is the only industry in the world where it's only 450 of them. And just to get here individually, you got to be a killer.

Now, Chris Baron, he was definitely saying it was levels, and it is levels. You want me to go back? No, you're fine. You go. It is levels. It is levels to this, right? And but at the end of the day, when you at the top of the top, creme de la creme, top 10, top five, number one, number two, you're a different animal, man. You're a different breed. And I think we take it for granted. I think we see guys like a Kevin Durant, and we sit there and say, well, he's been averaging 27 points, but that ain't been winning. Do you know what it takes to average 27 points in the best league in the world? You mean to tell me that's who you blame when it comes to winning? The leading score? Oh, he's oh, he's just splitting up stats. No, bro, no, bro, no. It's way more to winning than that. It's way more to winning than that. You just not, it's just not stats. It takes a lot to keep yourself in shape. It takes your lot to be able to beat the defense. You got the best of the best. You're playing against some people, some of these guys grew up watching you. They grew up watching them. And they're excited to play D. They're excited to get on the phone with their buddies. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Yo, you know I locked up KD. He ain't letting it happen. They're excited to say I locked up LeBron. I didn't let Steph score. They're excited, and these guys still can't stop it. There's different types of killers, man. And again, the brand is a real hoopers. And I just want the real hoopers to really speak louder than the casuals, the guys who just don't really appreciate the game. You gotta appreciate the game. Because yes, there are levels of killers. But if you were in the top crime dealer crime, the top guys, one or two, you up there. You're up there. You might just use different, you might just you might just use different guns. Somebody probably got a shotgun, you probably got a sniper gun, you somebody got an AK, you might just use different guns, but you're a killer. Then in that same interview, uh Isaiah Thomas talked about playing as a team. And this is this is a real hooper concept. I think we use we're we're so used to the individual performance. We look at the individual performance of every player. Oh, he averaged this, he averaged that, he averaged this. But Isaiah Thomas gave a great perspective on that. I can't win games playing like this guy, so I gotta win games playing like that guy. And only real hoopers understand this. Take a look at this clip here uh where he addresses this. And I think this is the right thing.

So they discount winning, which is what I've been fighting my whole life. It's like, okay, I'm a little guy, so the criteria that you have for judging basketball, I can't win that way. I can't win playing like a 6'9, I can't win playing like a guy with a 45-inch vertical. I can't win that way. So I have to find my criteria and define my rules that don't fit the media bias of how they want to see the game and judge the game. So the only thing that I can do is go and win. And when my team shows up to play the other team and my team win, all I can do is walk away, feel good, and say we won.

But so I said this before on the show. Yes, it is cool to see someone average 32 points, 35 points, 37 points. As a fan, that is fun to see. It is fun to see someone drop 62 points in a game, 83 points, 81 points. But if you go look at those players who actually performed at that level, those were the years they were losing. Those were the years they were losing. You can have the ability to score a certain amount of points, but that might not be winning basketball. It might not be winning basketball. And Isaiah times when he's preaching is winning basketball. Like I always say this about guys like LeBron. It's not the fact that he couldn't lead the league and scoring, he did. But he understood at some point this is the furthest away from winning that I've ever been. So I might have to sacrifice a point or two. I might have to sacrifice for the team's greater good. And that's what Isaiah Thomas did for the Detroit Pistons. And you can tell just by his legacy, just by what he's known for. We don't know him to be a league leader in scoring. We know him to be a dog, standing out amongst dogs. If you're a dog, the points don't matter. The averages don't matter, the accolades don't matter. You're gonna be acknowledged. Another part in this in this interview, I wanted to talk about the financial part. The reason why I want to talk about the financial part in this is because I've been trying to tell guys about the behind the scenes stuff. You guys see players moving from team to team or not performing at their peak sometimes, and you're trying to figure out why. You're trying to figure out why this guy won't push himself. Why this guy won't put why this guy won't be like the guys who came before him. But sometimes it's some things that's going on behind the scenes that makes it hard to perform because if they perform well, they're getting the short end of the stick, and the owners, the agents, the financial advisors are reaping all the benefits. Let's take a look at this clip where he's talked about um how the agents were taking more than they should.

Look at NIL and college right now. That was the client with the agents and the and the player. So the agents were taking 50% of endorsements, 50%. They were taking 20% of your player contract off the top. Right? And and you read a whole lot of stories about players going broke, so forth and so on. It was serious conflict of interest where uh players were being represented by uh an agent who who also represented the coach, who also represented the general manager, and then who also represented somebody in the media. So all these conflicts were were there. So when I came in and and what I said is how do we make it better for the player? So the first thing I did is uniformed all the contracts. So when you uniform the contracts and you slot the salaries, now there's really no negotiation for you know in the contract. Because now we speak in the same language, right?

So as you can see, take a sip of this water. So here's the thing, right? There were Isaiah Thomas is saying that the players was getting, you know what? I can't say it on here because I might get banned, but you know what they were getting, bro. So when you see the the players are legends and they're not in the best financial state, this is why. This is why. In addition to signing long contracts, the agents was taking 20% of the player contract, then 50% of the endorsements out of 70% of their money is going somewhere else. Then, in addition to that, they had conflicts of interest. So for instance, there was appointed financial advisors, financial advisors from the team, E? So just imagine this. Just imagine you playing for the Lakers, right? E you playing for the Lakers, and you get a financial advisor. And they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, invest in this right here. Put your money in this right here. Meanwhile, the money you putting in is one of the GM's companies. So the GM paying you, so you can pay him. Can you imagine that, bro? Then they like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're gonna get you endorsement deals. We're gonna get you an endorsement deal, 100 bands, 100,000. I need 50,000 of that. I need 50,000 of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You gonna sign for you gonna sign for a million, yeah, yeah, 20 million. I need 200,000. Like, like, bro. Can you imagine that all of it is going back to the same people? Then when you then when you're done, you can't even get a job. You can't even get a job with the company. So I love what Isaiah Thomas was doing, man. We're gonna stop it right there when it comes to that interview. Um, because I just wanted I just wanted to point that out. A lot of people think, oh man, you know, these guys should be loyal. They should be all loyal. But this is what they gotta deal with. Are you gonna be loyal? Imagine you could imagine your boss. Imagine your boss telling you, yo, yo, I got somebody to put you on this, and that person takes 20%. Then you're like, yeah, yeah, we will also give you this too. And that person takes you 50%. Meanwhile, you doing all the work. You doing the plan, the training, you're doing all those things while they take profit from it. Then they say, Yo, I got this crazy, I got this financial advisor. I got this crazy investment for you. Financial advisor says to you. An investment is a company that the GM is starting. They need gym money to help start it. Crazy. Now, let's get into some current NBA. You know, we've been watching the Summer League, Summer League Championship just happened. Um, I believe the Memphis, the Memphis won a Memphis won tonight, right? I believe Memphis won tonight. I was watching a little bit of it, as you can see. I probably didn't watch all of it because we had to prepare for the real Hooper show. And I had to lock in, I had to make sure. But I believe the the Memphis Grizzlies won, and I was watching it. We've been talking about my guy Coward being oh Golden State won, excuse me. Golden State actually won uh 94 to 90. But I was watching the Memphis Grizzlies, and they actually, I like my guy Coward. I talked about Cedric Coward, he's really good. Um, another guy who stood out to me is Cameron Boozer. Cameron Boozer, um, he's averaged over 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists over the summer league. One of the things I like about him is that he's a defensive menace. You talk about a 6'8, small forward, power forward, power forward, small forward, wherever you want to put him, but he's playing 94 feet. He's playing 94 feet. And here's what that tells me. That tells me he understands his role coming into the next season. He's not overdoing things. 18 points is great. Do I think he'll average 18 points going into the season? Probably not. Um, I think he can get close to it. I think he'll be, I think he could probably range around here, 12 to 18 points. It depending on the flow of the offense, it depends on um what uh what of the pecking tier is he gonna be when it comes to scoring? Are they gonna give him the ball? Or is he is are they having plays for him? But he seems like a kid who can actually go out and get his own. You don't gotta make no plays for me. I'm gonna go out and get my own. I can go, I can get you 12 points on my own. I can get you, I can hit a setup, a set jump shot. And I can get you, I can get a steal, I can cause deflections. I'm gonna be I I like his attitude towards the game. Unfortunate, they didn't win, but nonetheless, I think he's his career is bright. I think he has a bright career ahead of him. I think he has a bright season ahead of him. Um I also like where the Memphis Grizzlies are headed. Cedric Cower looks like he's gonna come in and be a leader. Um, given his background, um, he's the guy who came from Division III, then eventually got to Division I. Um, come from an old school family, and he seems very humble. Seems very humble. So it looks like the Memphis Grizzlies are getting back to team-oriented, team culture, team environment basketball. So I'm looking forward to see what the Memphis Grizzlies do. I don't think they'll be a playoff team, but I do want to follow some of these guys and see what they're doing. Now, I want my guy E always send me these uh these these rankings. Rank these players in their prom. And the first one we got here's the first one. Steph Curry, SGA, James Harden, and Luka Dock. Rank these players in their prom scores. Now you already know who's first. Luka Dockins, Eaton Jones. Steph Curry got it, bro. Steph Curry was listen, man, Steph Curry, he had, I want to say, he had like, he had a obviously 2014 and 2018 was a strong prime year. I mean, you're talking about a three-time NBA champion, four straight finals appearance, 73-9 record, uh two 67 win seasons, a 58 win season, individual awards, and two MVPs in 2015 and 16, 2016 unanimous MVP, four-time All-Star, uh, four-time four-time All-Star Game Starter, all these NBA teams. I mean, the list goes on. Um listen, man, Steph Curry, he's number one on this. He's number one. And then you go to 2022, NBA champion, first NBA uh NBA Finals MVP. So we go, we give it to him. He's already, so Steph Curry is number one. Let's let's get that out the way. Steph Curry is number one. Now, it gets a little choppy. Now, it gets a little choppy with the other three.

So, I mean, he's been an all-star six times. But I will, here's the thing. Now, look now at this point, we gotta start talking about some real hooper stuff. Which player would you rather have? SGA or Luca? I'ma go SGA. Yo, what, bro? I'ma go SGA. No, bro. Why? Why I'm gonna go SGA? I can at least believe that SGA is gonna play some defense.
